Had a great week shooting this little series for Facebook X Tastemade with comedian Jahannah James and 8 specialist guests who took her through some of the wildest wellness trends of the year. They cooked, they tasted, they conquered.
I made this short documentary about Stoll, a homeless charity that works with homeless veterans to help rehouse them and offer support for vulnerable people. They were very nice, as you'd probably expect.
A little charity documentary project for Hackney Law Centre, where we interviewed clients having immigration, benefits and housing issues. I shot, edited and directed this one.
The five films I directed for Coppafeel with JWT last summer have gone live and got a great response, including a nice little write up on David Reviews. Lovely films, lovely team.
I self-shot this little documentary for Camden Community Law Centre earlier in the month, and the producer cut this film. CCLC is an amazing organisation that offers pro-bono legal advice for people who wouldn't otherwise be able to get help with things like immigration, housing and disability benefits claims. Big thank you to Alan Walsh for bringing me onboard this project.
On March 8th, The Young Creative Council launched a database of female creative talent to celebrate International Women's Day.
Badass.Gal was set up to showcase 365 creative women over the course of a year, including young talent from any creative background. Danny Pallett, a creative at DigitasLBi and a member of the Young Creative Council, said: "In a world where only 29% of the creative department are female, and only 12% of creative directors are female (in London alone), it's this generation of talent which will help bring up those numbers, and we don't doubt that they will." Just wrapped on an epic studio shoot for Coppafeel! A breast cancer charity that was set up to raise awareness in younger people. This was so much fun, but it was a miracle that we made it out alive - 162 shots in two days... I hate a challenge. We had a damn fine first AD and an almost all female crew, most of whom took one for the team and got their tits out for a good cause. It's the first time I've directed topless... and hopefully won't be the last. Very freeing.
Two years ago, Joanna and I shot a mini-doc for the Guardian about the strange world of Speech and Debate, an extra-curricular high school activity which is essentially competitive acting, where the young people competing at a national level can win scholarships to universities. We've just finished shooting the follow up feature length version in the Bronx, and then at the National Championships in Florida and it was a wild ride! Big thanks to everyone involved - can't wait to have a first cut to show you.
