I just finished this mini-doc for Adult Cerebral Palsy Hub in celebration of World CP Awareness Day. The film is made up of 20 Zoom interviews with people who are changing perceptions of the condition and achieving great things in life.
The original plan was to interview the participants in a studio or in their own homes, but the threat of a second wave of Covid-19 meant that we had to take the party to Zoom instead. I'm not going to pretend that shooting on video conferencing software with a cantankerous internet connection is every filmmaker's dream, but in this instance the inspiring stories and characters shone though to make this a very special film. Whether you have CP or not, these guys are an amazing example of where determination, persistence and empathy can get you, even when the odds aren't stacked in your favour.

Has so much fun shooting these little social media shorts for one of my best (and most photogenic) friends, Katie Locker, who is launching her own catering company, Sticky Pig.
Pavlina Saward has just taken me on for International Representation at Driven By Creatives. Exciting times!
Matt Brown, Anna Allgrove and the lovely people at Dark Energy have asked me to join their roster of directors. Dark Energy is "an award winning commercials production company representing an eclectic roster of exciting established and emerging directing talent." They recently won a fist full of awards at The Charity Awards, Creative Circle and a Silver Pencil at The One Show.
So proud of this spot for Nicorette, made with BBDO Flare, produced by Claire Nolan, shot by Chris Clarke and edited by Amy Daniel. Great to get a shout from the living room, "Quick quick, come here quick" when it came on during the football. Well hello shooting, How I have missed you. And even better, I get to shoot with one of my best friends, Katie Locker, who is soon to launch her very own catering company, having worked as a chef for years. Nothing more mesmeric than watching her wrap dumplings at lightening speed. Everything she makes is beautiful, and she is beautiful, which makes my job very easy.
It was very heartening to see thousands of people coming out in support of Black Lives Matter in London today. I shot a little short film which. if nothing else, shows how peaceful and respectful the protest was from when I was standing.
Strange days. Global pandemic lockdown means that most of us aren't shooting, which is financially tough, but also provides opportunities to work on personal projects and submit to little competitions that usually I wouldn't have time for. Here's a film for Jack Daniels that a few friends helped create a a clip for... see if you can spot it.
We were one of the prize winners which we shared between us and donated £1000 to Refuge, a charity supporting people experiencing domestic violence, which sadly has spiked in the past couple of months.
I feel really lucky to have had it pretty easy (so far) during this crisis. I hope everyone reading this is happy and healthy and your loved ones are safe and well. Be creative, try something new, read a book, tune in to a tutorial, do an online workout, watch a challenging film, volunteer, or support a cause, whatever makes you feel good, do it. This too shall pass. So happy to be on this awesome shoot with BBDO. Such a brilliant, talented team. Great atmosphere on the shoot. Trying to find a leafy London location that passes for summer in December is a big ask. We discovered that Gunnersbury Park has a wealth of evergreens and we really lucked out on the weather... it looks positively balmy. We even got a Christmas dinner on the last day courtesy of Island Studios, which I am assured has the best catering in London. What more could you want?
Peckham Platform is a creative and educational charity based in Peckham, South London. I shot a couple of nice little videos and some stills of a trip they took some young people on to The Tate Modern, which was a whole lot of fun.
Peckham Platform bring local communities together with leading artists to co-produce meaningful art, and the work that they facilitate responds directly to the needs and concerns of the people involved. They focus on empowering and giving a platform to groups that are at risk of marginalization, and do this work in one of the most deprived areas of the country. "Our vision is that art changes everyone, and our mission is to create positive change through meaningful art."
